A Learning Strategy

During my second practicum, I was trying to get students to talk about the subject not only to each other, but also to class.  The biggest problem was to get the rest of the students to listen quietly to their classmates when they were presented. I always asked those who were presenting to stop the presentation and wait until everyone was listening. In some cases it could happen more than one time. I was always saying to my students to imagine how they would have felt if someone had been talking during their presentation. At the beginning we spent enormous amounts of time on stopping and starting over as well as discussing the issue.  But it worked. At the end of my practicum very often students showed respect to their classmates by listening carefully, which led to the more interesting and  proficient discussions.
