A Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Guardians,
By sending you this letter, I would like to welcome you and your children to our grade 8A class.
Who am I?
My name is Mrs. Krechmer, and I am going to be your child’s homeroom teacher as well as math and science teacher during this school year. This is my first year teaching at this school, and it is a pleasure to be a part of this great team.
What to expect?
It is going to be an interesting and exciting school year for all of us, your children, you, and me as their teacher. I see my role as to make sure that all my students grow and succeed through the school year academically, emotionally, and socially. For this reason, I am going to differentiate my instructions and assessments, so that every student can reach their full potential. I will be implementing and using all the latest technologies and resources that are available in our school. However, if you have any concerns or suggestions regarding your child’s progress, please feel free to contact me, so that we can discuss the issue. I will also promote a safe and engaging class environment, so that every student can feel comfortable, welcome, and excepted.
Parent – Teacher communication and cooperation
It is my belief that we together can make a great team. It is for best of your children and my students that any concern is addressed as soon as it arises. So please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail, school phone number, or a note if there is any problem. We are going to meet a number of times through school year for parent-teacher interviews and some class activities. Please keep an eye on the following notes.
Class rules and expectations
I would like to take this opportunity to explain some rules and expectations for my class.
·         - Respect yourself, others, and the teacher. Remember: No one likes to be treated disrespectfully
·         - Keep your hands to yourself
·         - If you have a question, raise your hand. If someone is talking, listen and do not interrupt. If you need to interrupt, do it nicely
·         - Talk to others the way you want others talk to you. Do not use curse language
·         - Come to class prepared
·         - Be proactive, be engaged
·          - If you have an issue, address it immediately, do not postpone
·         - Treat class supplies and equipment as your own
There is one particular issue that I would like to address as it is own. Bullying is still a biggest concern in modern classrooms. Because of being bullied, children feel unsafe, unwelcome and unwilling to participate in class activities. It can lead to more major problems. Therefore, I want to be clear that bullying will not be tolerated at any level. Those who will be noticed in bullying will be taken for the discussion with the further procedure if it is needed. Parents will be notified in any case.
Conclusion
Once again, I am looking forward to the next 10 months educational journey with your children. All contact information is provided below. Please sign the attached form after reading this letter and return it to me by this Friday.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Krechmer.
